Severe flight delays and cancellations will hit Shanghai's two airports for eight hours, July 26, the city's airport authority said late last night.

Disruptions will affect the Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport from 8am until noon and between 3pm and 7pm due to air traffic restrictions, the Shanghai Airport Authority told Shanghai Daily.

During the restrictions period, the flight capacity at the city's airports and neighboring airspace will decrease by 65 percent, said the authority.

Flights from Nanchang, Ganzhou, Jiujiang, Yichun, Jinggangshan, Jingdezhen, Wuyishan, Jianqiao and Wenzhou will be affected.

Disruptions will also be experienced on flights to Linyi, Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Huai'an, Yancheng, Changzhou, Yangzhou and Nantong, said officials.

This is the longest period of air restrictions in a day among the frequent flight delays and cancellations this month due to military maneuvers.

It is unclear how many flights will be affected, but a six-hour period of air traffic restrictions from 10am to 4pm caused more than 100 flights be cancelled at the city's airports on July 14.

Passengers are advised to contact their airlines before heading to the airport.
