The command center for the Peace Mission-2014 anti-terror drill has been officially established in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Military officers from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan have attended the first coordination meeting, and discussed details of the drill.
The 6-day drill, conducted under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, will involve about 7000 troops, including ground, air and special forces.
Zheng Chuanfu is the chief commander of the "joint battle command."
"We set up the joint battle command at the meeting. I'm the commander in chief. Other participating countries also sent deputy chief commanders, chiefs of staff, and work staff to join the command."
The meeting also marks the start of the battle planning stage, the second stage of the drill.
Three joint live-fire training operations will be carried out before the drill officially kicks off on Sunday.
