Chinese navy's spokeswoman makes her debut

Chinese navy's first spokeswoman Xing Guangmei has made her media debut yesterday during a press conference in Weihai, Shandong Province. The press conference introduced an upcoming symposium in commemoration of the 120th Anniversary for the 1894-1895 Sino-Japanese War.

Senior Colonel Xing Guangmei has acted as the first and only female spokesperson for the Chinese Navy since last November, sharing duties with a spokesman named Liang Yang.

A Qingdao native, Xing also serves as the director of the World Naval Research Center at the Naval Military Institute of the People's Liberation Army or PLA. Xing holds a degree in law and continues her post-doctoral research in related fields.
