Three inmates escaped from a prison in Yanshou county, Harbin city, northeast China's Heilongjiang province, after killing a prison guard, Chinanews.com reports.

Inmates Wang Damin, Gao Yulun and Li Haiwei reportedly took a guard's gun and shot him during their escape.

During the escape, Gao Yulun, 50, and Wang Damin, 35, were wearing a short-sleeved and long-sleeved police uniforms, respectively. Li Haiwei, 29, was wearing a light-blue, short-sleeved outfit at the time of the escape.

Wang was arrested for intentionally injuring another person, which resulted in that person's death. Gao was sentenced to death; Li was arrested for murder.

Police are currently conducting a manhunt for the escapees.
