The Bairong World Trade Center in Beijing's Eastern District catches fire Thursday.

A wholesale mall in Beijing has been ablaze for more than 24 hours since an arsonist set it on fire at around 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning. The Bairong World Trade Center in Beijing's Eastern District, a hub for clothing and toy wholesalers, contained a huge amount of flammable materials, partly resulting in the continuing fire.

Firefighters are pumping water from outside of the building to ensure safety. The low air temperature has caused thin ice to form on the structure. Reports state that no one has died or been injured in the fire.

Police confirmed that the fire was the result of arson. The suspected arsonist, a 16-year-old native of Hebei Province surnamed Han, has been taken into custody. Authorities are still investigating his motives for setting the fire.
