China's Ministry of Education has issued the codes and put them into the education registration system, after a trial run for a year.

The eventual release of student code numbers means the system has entered a new phase for application. It will play an important role in student's enrollment, school roll registration and graduation.

The pioneering application of the school roll system has facilitated education departments at all levels, and increased working efficiency noticeably. Meanwhile, the system is evolving into a perfect one that could save time, human resources, and economic cost for students and parents.

Parents do not have to commute between different places if their children want to move to a new school in a different area. Under the new system, students can complete a school transfer in as little as nine hours.

The Ministry of Education hopes the new system could receive more public attention and joint efforts are needed to ensure the smooth and sound application.
