A traffic police officer in east china's Jiangxi province helped a pregnant woman deliver a baby boy in the police car on Friday.

The new mother was on a highway bus running from Hangzhou to Ruili on May 1, and suddenly went into labor.

After receiving an emergency call, three traffic officers took the mother-to-be to a hospital.

But the woman gave birth to her baby in the police car before arriving at the hospital. One of the traffic officers named Xu Chunpeng helped to deliver the baby.

The mother and baby are now in a local hospital and are doing well.
