Police in south China's Guangdong Province busted a drug ring in a recent raid, with 11 suspects detained, including two Taiwanese.

The crackdown in Zhongshan City saw eight people detained and 42 kg of crystal meth confiscated in an abandoned rural restaurant, the provincial department of public security said on Thursday.

The raid also led to the detention of another three suspects in a drug warehouse in Dongguan City, where 460 kg of meth as well as drug-making tools and half-finished drugs were found, police said.

One of the suspects, from Taiwan, attempted suicide when apprehended in Zhongshan, said Feng Lizhou, a police officer with the Zhongshan public security bureau.

This is the third drug ring busted by Guangdong police in a recent clamp-down. In multi-city operations on May 14 and May 15, police detained 48 suspects, seized more than one tonne of drugs, seven million yuan (1.13 million U.S. dollars) worth of cash, a pistol and 10 bullets.
