An 81-year-old nanny from Fujian Province has looked after the disabled, abandoned child of a Hong Kong couple for 37 years.

Zhuang Moli was hired as a nanny in Longhu Town, Jinjiang City of Fujian in 1978 to look after a pregnant woman from Hong Kong. However, one month after giving birth, the woman left with her husband and abandoned the infant boy suffering from total paralysis.

Although already having four children to raise, Zhuang persuaded her husband and took the infant home. In 1986, Zhuang's husband died of illness, leaving all the burden of the poor family to Zhuang.

In order to take care of the disabled boy, Zhuang had to stay at home and couldn't find a job other than collecting scrap.

During the past 37 years, Zhuang's third son and daughter have gone astray due to mental illness, and her eldest son is still single due to their extreme poverty.

Earlier this year, Zhuang became ill. She refused to go to the hospital unless her second son promised to look after his disabled "brother."

At present, Zhuang is 81 years old, but she insists on taking care of her disabled "son" by herself. "I will never give him up," said Zhuang.
