China promotes officers to general

The Central Military Commission (CMC) on Friday promoted two senior military officers to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service.

The promoted officers were Political Commissar of the Western Theater Command Zhu Fuxi and Deputy Chief of Staff of the CMC Joint Staff Department Yi Xiaoguang.

At Friday's promotion ceremony, Chinese President and CMC Chairman Xi Jinping presented the officers with certificates of command and extended his congratulations.

Fan Changlong, CMC vice chairman, announced the orders of the promotion.
