A man in southern China's city of Zhuhai has been arrested by the police and will be held in custody for five days after falsely claiming to be a member of ISIS on his Weibo account and also making posts using the name ISIS, as reported by CZTV.com on Saturday.

On September 12, 2016, the public security department in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, discovered online comments being made by a user who called himself ISIS.

After investigation by the police, it was confirmed that the man was not in any way connected with the organization. The man confesses to having violated the law by disseminating false information online.

He says he claimed to be a member of ISIS in hopes of increasing his popularity.
