Are you concerned of the difficulty or even danger of calling the police under certain circumstances? An upcoming app will help you solve this problem.

Beijing police are launching an online platform on October 1 to optimize the intake of emergency calls.

The app, named Beijing 110, has four functional modules: "I want to report something to the police," "Police stations nearby," "FAQ" and "Personal center."

The 110 emergency calls will be dealt with online and in real time. They will connect callers to the public security dispatch system according to the situation.

Users can either download the Beijing 110 app, or use it through the Beijing 110 module embedded in a "360 mobile phone guard."

The app can only be used on android systems and an iOS version still being developed.

Real name registration is required after downloading the app.

Citizens can describe the incident, type in a time and location in the "I want to report something to the police" page.

A maximum of nine photos and three video clips of the scene can be uploaded to the app.

Users can adjust the time of the incident as the situation changes.

Under certain circumstances, police officers may contact the person reporting the incident to ask for further details.

Beijing police said people should still call 110 in case of emergencies.

The app only receives reports of crimes, public security incidents and criminal clues in the Beijing area.
