Police in southwest China's Guizhou Province have seized 30 suspects in connection with illegal gun manufacturing and trading, local police said Wednesday.

Police in Anshun city confiscated more than 80 guns and over 4,500 bullets after investigating for more than 200 days in several provinces, including Henan, Zhejiang, Hunan and Jiangxi, as well as the city of Shanghai.

They also seized three machines for gun and bullet production, as well as more than 2,000 gun parts.

Anshun police started investigating the case after finding a parcel containing bullets when inspecting the postal sector in May.

China bans the manufacturing, sale and public ownership of guns.

Anyone found guilty of owning a gun can face up to seven years in prison.
