Authorities in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, have issued a regulation requiring parental approval for minors to become hosts on live streaming websites.

The regulation, effective from Thursday, stipulates that live streaming websites should get approval from parents before hiring minors as hosts or providing channels for minors to become hosts.

The regulation also forbids people from leaving children under eight years old in a car alone. Leaving those under 12 years old in the front passenger seat is also prohibited.

The regulation, aimed at protecting minors, was passed last year.

Live streaming is big business in China. According to China Internet Network Information Center, at the end of June 2016 there were 325 million live streaming users in China -- about half of the whole online Chinese community.
