China's Chief Justice Zhou Qiang has asked the country's courts to strengthen the anti-corruption campaign and conduct strict self-supervision in 2018.

Zhou, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), made the request in a teleconference with representatives from courts nationwide, according to a statement by the SPC.

Courts should following the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the absolute leadership of the CPC, said the statement, adding they should build a team that is loyal, reliable, honest and clean.

The statement stressed that there should be zero-tolerance towards judicial corruption and there should be no exceptional, forbidden, or dead zones during investigation.

The SPC also said courts must stay close with the people and never harm the interest of the public.
