Six companies recently gathered in Beijing's Zhongguancun to share their accomplishments brought by the city's new policies to further optimize its business environment.

Beijing has issued series of policies and measures to optimize the business environment since last September. This March, the government published nine major policies with regard to approval of construction projects, business registration, tax payment, cross-border trade, access to the power grid, financial credit and asset registration.

Dong Yufeng, vice general manager of VStartup, said that the registration for startup companies now only takes as few as five days, and companies could get their electronic business licenses by submitting applications online.

The government has also taken measures to ease the tax paying process, enabling people to get things done in one go. Lyu Jing, director of BOE, said that by implementing technology-based services, the city could greatly increase the efficiency of tax payment. Instead of delivering paperwork and payments in person, companies could now go through the entire process on WeChat and other online tax payment platforms, saving money and time.

Yang Ying, general manager of iBio, expressed her appreciation for the policies that improved cross-border trade. "The new policies facilitate the cross-border trade of biological medicine companies, improving efficiency, safety and quality," Yang said, adding that through simplifying approval process and by applying online, the company's goods arriving at the port could be delivered on the same day.

According to the officials at the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, Beijing will next take measures with regard to service system, park construction, system of industries, talents and application of scientific and technological advances, in a bid to further optimize the business environment.
