Beijing launched the Cloud-based Tax Service Experience Center in Tongzhou district on May 3, using facial recognition technology in major tax-payment process.

The center sets up nine areas, each covering a type of tax payment service including information directory, encyclopedia, online tax payment, self-services, tutorials, financial services, technical support, and suggestions and feedback.

Through new technologies such as virtual reality, voice assistant and facial recognition, the center aims to increase the efficiency of tax payment and improve user experience.

Liu, a clerk from Huoxian county in Tongzhou district, said she used to make several trips to pay taxes due to her unfamiliarity with tax payment policies and procedures, costing time and labor. "But now, with the help of the tutorials and staff at the center, I could get things done in one go."

"The cloud-based one-stop tax service provides much more convenience for the taxpayers," Liu Baoping, president of the Beijing Dongsheng Group, said. "Companies could maintain a robust and healthy growth in an optimized business environment."

An official from Beijing’s tax bureau said that the establishment of the cloud-based tax service center is significant to optimizing the business environment. The government has taken great efforts to reduce the time cost of tax payment and streamline the administrative procedures.

In the future, Tongzhou district will further promote the integration of tax services and the internet, and gradually establish a system of tax services and management, in a bid to invigorate the market vitality and public creativity, boosting the construction and development of Beijing's sub-center.
