Beijing has built 2,583 smart communities and established 1,442 "public service circles" that offer citizens access to complete sets of convenience facilities within a 15-minute walk, according to a report released by the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences on May 23.
The report says 16 districts in Beijing are included in the city's networked management platform, realizing the real-time data sharing at municipal, district, and township levels.
One hundred 15-minute public service circles were established in 2017, covering at least 85 percent of the communities in the city.
In regard to tackling the challenges of management in rural-urban fringe zones, experts who contributed to the report suggest that the government could improve information gathering on migrant workers and rental housing, and promote infrastructure construction to provide better public service facilities.
