The Beijing sections of three high-speed railway tracks linking the Chinese capital with Zhangjiakou and Xiongan New Area in Hebei province and Shenyang in Liaoning province are now under construction after initial preparations, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

The Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, linking the two host cities of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, is expected to be put into service by the end of 2019. Spanning 70.3 kilometers and crossing Haidian, Changping and Yanqing districts, the Beijing part of the rail is scheduled to finish construction by the end of this year.

The Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway, an important project for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, is planned to begin operation in September 2019 along with the Beijing New Airport in the city's southern Daxing district.

The city authorities say the bridges and roadbeds of the Beijing section of the railway tracks, measuring 37.6 kilometers, will finish construction by the end of this year.

The Beijing part of the passenger rail line linking the Chinese capital with Shenyang in Liaoning province is also under construction. The Wangjing tunnel, a major project of the line, will finish construction soon.
