Hosted by the Bureau for External Cultural Relations under China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the one-week workshop acts as a platform for strengthening cooperation in international literary translation and publishing, promoting the dissemination of Sino-foreign excellent cultural works, and enhancing mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign people.

Zhu Qi, deputy director of the Bureau for External Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said the workshop has effectively promoted the translation and cooperation of Chinese and foreign literary works.

"It is hoped that the translators and sinologists can work side by side to deepen cooperation for creating a good environment of literary publishing and build a bridge for Chinese and foreign people via literary works,” Zhu said.

Kuang Min, a translator from Myanmar, gave a speech during the opening ceremony. He said, “As a translator of Chinese literature, we should do our own work to make Chinese literature more complete and more accurate for the foreign readers, so that they can see the true Chinese culture and the development of China in recent years.”

In addition, the participants will have dialogues with experts and Chinese writers to discuss publishing and translation issues in later forums during the workshop.
