The black Labrador "Hei Mei" has been training in the provincial guide dog center, the first one in the northwest region of the country, for one year and is now being trained to go through the security checks and turnstiles, as well as to get in and out of the subway car and take escalators, said Li Sai, the dog's trainer.

Hei Mei has been obedient on the subway, said Li Sai, but she still needs another half-year of training before serving the blind.

The first guide dog will start service in the city this October.

The guide dog training center was established in 2016, with 26 dogs and five trainers. The center has received more than one hundred applications for guide dog, said Li Sai.
