Belt & Road Institute of International Business launched in Shanghai University

Responding to the increasing research and educational needs deriving from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) developing economies and projects, Shanghai University (SHU) announced its new academic institute, the Belt and Road Institute of International Business (BRIIB), at a ceremony on Friday. The School of Economics (SOE), Shanghai University will act as host.

With Professor Maria Elo from the University of Turku (Finland) asExecutiveDean and Professor Anthony Ho from Shanghai University (China) asDeputyDean, the BRIIB aims to establish itself as one of the leading academic institutes and platforms connecting people involved in international business research, education and training, to become recognized for the quality of its academic research, education programs, as well as its contributions to international business circles.

The BRIIB, serving as a platform for people-to-people exchanges, will conduct excellent research, provide a first-class education, and offer premium training under the strategy of “Think Global, Act Local; Academic Mind, Practical Action”. The BRIIB has already established connections with universities and institutes from, among others, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Latvia and within China.

Invited to become the BRIIB Professor of International Business and Entrepreneurship, Executive Dean Professor Elo saw the publication of her new book“Diaspora Network in International Business” by the Springer Publishing Company just before the launch ceremony.

The launching of the BRIIB is one of the events being staged by Shanghai University to commemorate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the 40th anniversary of its own School of Economics.
