A senior official of the State Council called for more efforts to boost transparency of government services Thursday.
Xiao Jie, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, made the remarks at the first meeting of a national leading group on the initiative, which he chairs.
Remarkable progress has been made since late 2012 in promoting transparency, helping to earn recognition, trust and support from the public, said Xiao.
He urged authorities in all areas and on all levels to make government transparency a conscious choice.
In 2019, more should be done to explain policies, respond to public opinions, standardize services and improve platforms, said Xiao.
