Live blogging of National Tea-Drinking Day in Quzhou

Hello everyone, we are now in the city of Quzhou, Zhejiang province, where the Nanzong Confucian Temple stands. And at 9:30 a.m., we will see the opening of Quzhou's Tea-Drinking Day Festival. Stay tuned with China.org.cn.


The city of Quzhou was built more than 1,800 years ago, and it has a history of tea production for more than 1,200 years. As one of national historical and cultural cities, Quzhou is located at the headwaters of the Qianjiang River, and is well-known for its picturesque sceneries and outstanding people. Its tea culture is unique and attractive.


To fully demonstrate Quzhou's tea culture, on this Tea-Drinking Day Festival, we will see exhibitions of tea brands, exchange of the art of tea-making, and listen to seminars and lectures given by tea experts. Known as the second hometown of Confucius family, Quzhou will show us the beauty of its landscapes as well as the extensiveness of its "benevolence and courtesy" culture.

Tea is one of the leading agricultural productions in Quzhou. The planting of tea in Quzhou started way back in the Tang Dynasty and saw its peak in the Song Dynasty. The main products now, include Kaihua Longding, Jiangshan Green Peony, Luoyang Qubo, Changshan Yinbo, Longyou Fangshan, etc. Among them, the Kaihua Longding Tea is recognized as "Famous Trademark of China" and one of the Top Ten Best Tea Brands of Zhejiang province.


The Kaihua Longding Tea produced in Quzhou is one of the super-premium tea brands in China. The two Chinese characters Longding literally means the head of a dragon, which symbolizes the Qianjiang River that originates from Quzhou.


So here come all the guests.


And first we are now watching the water drum dance named "Drum Rhyme of One Thousand Years."


Tea experts from China International Tea Culture Research Society, Zhejiang Provincial Tea Culture Research Society and other institutions are invited today.

Mr. Zhou Guofu, deputy director of the Committee for Literature, History and Learning of the CPPCC, President of China International Tea Culture Research Society and former president of the CPPCC Zhejiang Province Committee.

Mr. Jiang Renhua, vice-president of China International Tea Culture Research Society and Party Secretary of the Tea Research Institute of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Mr. Wang Xiaoling, secretary-general of China International Tea Culture Research Society and former deputy secretary-general of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.

Mr. Lu Chengyin, deputy director of the Tea Research Institute of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences and deputy dean of Zhejiang Provincial Tea Research Institute.

Mr. Dai Xuelin, director of general office of China International Tea Culture Research Society and former deputy director of the Policy Research Office of the CPPCC Zhejiang Province Committee.

Mr. Xu Yunhuan, deputy director of Bureau of Crop Production, Agriculture Department of Zhejiang province.

Mr. Lin Feng, Vice-president of Chinese Poetry Society and deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "Chinese Poetry."

This event is jointly hosted by China International Tea Culture Research Society and Zhejiang Tea Culture Research Society, and is undertaken by Quzhou Tea Culture Research Society, Publicity Department of the CPC Quzhou Municipal Committee, Quzhou Agriculture Bureau, Quzhou Housing and Construction Bureau, and Quzhou Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.


In his speech, Zhou Guofu says that Quzhou is home of the Confucius in the south, and it has a profound cultural accumulation and a unique tea culture. He urges that we insist to the confidence of our culture and keep in mind of our historical mission, and carefully implement the development ideology of “creative, coordinated, green, open, and sharing”. By combining the city’s development with the belt and road initiative, the Health China Policy, the Targeted Poverty Alleviation, and the proposal of comprehensively build a moderately prosperous society, Quzhou will provide more support in the development of its tea industry, and make further contributions to the Chinese tea culture.


Now we are watching the dance named "Ode to the Tea."

"Keshan Tea Children" performed by Chinese folk music artist Zheng Xinhua and a bunch of kids.

"Imagination of Xin'an," a Gu Qin performance presented by Zhang Tao.


Mr. Ouyang Jianhua is presenting a calligraphy, he writes down four Chinese characters which mean “Tea and the harmony of the world”.


A show of the Han Chinese Clothing named "The Confucianism: Rites and Music," presented by Mr. Linfeng.


The Top Ten Most Beautiful Tea Gardens in Quzhou Award is announced.


The performance "A Dream Lasting for One Thousand Years."


A Chinese clothing show named "Garment of the Water Pavilion."


Poetry recitation "Singing on a Leaf."
