110 countries and int'l organizations to join Beijing Expo 2019

Construction work for Beijing Expo 2019, opening on April 29 next year, is entering the home stretch. It has met its goal of inviting participation from more than 100 countries and organizations, and more than 100 non-official participants, according to a meeting held on Wednesday for the preparations of the expo.

Wang Chuncheng, deputy director general of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Coordination Bureau, said 110 countries and international organizations have confirmed they will participate in the expo, and more than 120 non-official participants have also signed up. The number of international participants marks a new record for the A1-type World Horticultural Expos. Wang added that the core exhibition pavilions such as the China Pavilion and the International Pavilion are tidying up loose ends such as interior and exterior decoration work, installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, and outdoor projects.

Eighty countries and international organizations have signed up for the exterior exhibition, and they plan to build 41 outdoor exhibition pavilions, including 34 independent ones and seven shared ones. Meanwhile, 33 countries and international organizations will take part in indoor exhibition.

For domestic participants, 31 provincial and municipal exhibition parks along with the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regional exhibition parks and 17 enterprise exhibition parks have started construction, among which the main projects of 10 provinces, the Hong Kong regional exhibition park and three enterprise exhibition parks have been completed.

The evaluation of 31 provincial and municipal indoor exhibition plans has been finished, the construction of municipal infrastructure such as main roads, heating, electricity and fire protection in the park has been completed, and the traffic lines connecting the expo park and Yanqing district and Beijing’s urban areas have formed into a new system. Additionally, the command system for the expo has been completed, special work plans such as traffic security, safety and security, tourist services, reception, large-scale activities, and recruitment of volunteers have been completed, and the general plan for the ticket service is accomplished.
