All three stations on the subway line linking Beijing's urban districts with the new airport have finished construction, according to the Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office.

Caoqiao Station was the last of the three stations to be completed, marking the completion of the main structure of the airport subway line.

The line is set to begin trial operation next September, coinciding with the opening of the Beijing Daxing International Airport.

The length of the subway line set to open is the first phase of a bigger project to be continued in the future. It currently goes 41.36 kilometers through three stations in Fengtai and Daxing districts, including Caoqiao Station, Cigezhuang Station, and the new airport north terminal building.

Caoqiao is an important transfer station. The station architecture allows natural light through the ceilings and the sunken plaza. More than the usual number of elevators are installed to accommodate passengers with luggage, and the load of the elevators is increased to take in more passengers and luggage.

The airport subway will later be extended northward to Lize business district, where an aviation service building will be built. The subway will also be linked with other three subway lines.
