As the opening of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing (Beijing Expo 2019) began its 100-day countdown this week, preparations for the expo also entered the home stretch. According to the Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, more than 70 percent of 100 outdoor parks have completed construction.

The 100 outdoor parks include 41 for more than 80 foreign countries and international organizations, 34 for domestic provinces and cities, and 25 for scientific research institutes and enterprises.

At least 30 of the 41 international parks have completed construction. All construction work is scheduled to complete at the end of March.

Jiao Yutong, an official at the Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, said the participating countries have attached importance to the expo, as they would not only take the expo as a platform to exhibit their latest horticultural achievements and tourism resources, but also avail themselves of the opportunity to advance cooperation with China on gardening and agriculture.

Twenty-nine of the 34 domestic parks finalized construction and the remaining five are ramping up the pace of construction.

The landscaping work for all the parks will be finished by mid-to-late March.

"Visitors can not only view the gardening and landscapes, but also appreciate distinctive architectures and participate in cultural events," said Li Yang, an official at the Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau.
