Beijing Water Group in 2018 saved more than 26 million cubic meters of water - the equivalent of 13 Kunming Lakes - thanks to its fine-grain management and water conservation measures based on science and technology.
Beijing Water Group set up equipment to monitor 826 locations in the city's communities to measure water flow and keep track of the pipeline network.
Last August, for instance, data anomalies were spotted at a residential community, which led to the discovery of nine points of water leakage. The community would have suffered a loss of more than 8,000 cubic meters of water had the problems gone unnoticed.
Overall, 287 points of leakage were discovered in the city's pipeline network in 2018 thanks to the monitoring measures and data analysis.
The water group also installed more than 4,000 sets of monitoring equipment to discover leaking pipelines.
An official of the water group said, due to data analysis, machine monitoring, and manual search and location, more than 2,000 points were found to have risks of damage and leak, which helped to save more than 26 million cubic meters of water last year.
