Science PJ Metabolism Discovery, a quarterly medical science journal, was jointly launched by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Chinese Medical Doctors Association (CMDA) in Beijing on Jan. 28.

Xiao Guishan, appointed as editor-in-chief while working as a professor in Dalian University of Technology (DUT), addressed the launching ceremony and said he welcomed Chinese experts and scholars involved in cancer research and treatment to enhance their communication to try and find better ways of drug assistance in tackling cancer, enabling people to live better lives.

After operating as a quarterly for the first two years, Science PJ Metabolism Discovery will then become a monthly, covering major theoretical breakthroughs contributing to metabolic research as well as the prevention and treatment of major diseases.

In addition, it will also focus on clinical applications and precision medicine covering precautionary and diagnostic mechanisms.

Bill Moran, on behalf of the AAAS, said he believed the founding of a Science-branded journal in China marked a significant achievement in scientific and academic exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States.

Wang De, on behalf of CMDA, said it offered an opportunity to further encourage China’s academic exchanges with scientific and science-focused journals around the world, and help promote the development of medical research in China.

The editorial office of the journal responsible for the general publishing and managerial operations is based in DUT.
