According to the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company, power projects for the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Expo have all been completed.

The Beijing Expo, to be held in Yanqing district, will last 162 days from April 29 to Oct. 7. To supply power to the expo, the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company has optimized the power grid in Yanqing district and improved the supply reliability and emergency mechanism.

The company started construction of a new 110-kV transformer substation at the expo park in June 2018. Recently put into use, the substation meets the extra power need in Yanqing and hence improves the district's 10-kV power grid.

The company also launched two relocation projects by replacing overhead cables with underground ones in order to upgrade the expo park landscape as well as the surrounding environment. The two projects were completed in January, and the underground cables have been put into use since.

Meanwhile, another 110-kV mobile substation, with a power capacity of 60 times that of an ordinary emergency power generator, has been built to provide backup power supply for both the new expo park substation and the old Xihu substation. Smart security systems, including 17 robots, have also been installed for automatic detection and inspection at key sites of the park.
