Two greening projects covering an area of 545 hectares along the Beijing International Airport Expressway have been scheduled, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform announced Thursday. 

The two projects are the Daxing International Airport Expressway greening project and Daxing's 2019 green passage project for the airport expressway. The main construction work is to be completed before the end of June.

The first project is on the slip of tract shared by three traffic lines: Daxing International Airport Expressway, Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway, and Beijing Rail Transit New Airport Line, stretching 17 kilometers and covering an area of 113 hectares. The second project is on the flank of Beijing Daxing International Airport Expressway, with a length of 29 kilometers and an area of 432 hectares.

"The two projects will together enable passengers to experience a green ride to the airport," said a person in charge at the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.

From north to south, the airport green corridor falls into three parts according to the different landscape they present, namely the urban section, the suburb section, and the airport section. The urban section, located in the north of Sixth Ring Road and extending 7 kilometers, provides bush scenes; the suburb section, 17 kilometers long from the Sixth Ring Road to Airport Northern Line, highlights field landscape; the last section extends another 5 kilometers to reach Beijing Daxing International Airport, presenting a dense grove. 

Plants in the green belt will mostly be evergreen trees. Efforts will also be made to guarantee that the belt looks good from all angles.
