More than 20 construction projects in Shenzhen won the honorary titles of good construction sites at the national, provincial and city levels last year.

Among those projects, eight, including the Liantang Port, won the titles of “national green construction model project”.

According to the urban construction affairs administrative department of the city, these honors are the result of the department’s efforts to deepen ecological construction.

Construction waste should be effectively managed and controlled, and waste products should be recycled as much as is possible. Construction companies are also encouraged to use more environmentally friendly building materials, according to the person in charge of the department.

To build a smart city, more advanced technologies are also being used in Shenzhen’s construction sites to minimize their influence on the environment and disturbance to local residents.

In some construction sites, drones are even used to monitor the whole site. Once the air-borne dust density reaches a certain level, an automatic spray system will kick in to reduce the levels of pollution.
