A meeting related to the planned demolition of private properties within the urban villages of Luohu district's Caiwuwei Area was held on April 21. About 700 village representatives attended in order to sign relevant contracts for the work starting next month.

Shenzhen Caiwuwei Industry Co., Ltd. and the Kingkey Group are pressing ahead with a new wave of urban renovation centered on construction of the complex in the Caiwuwei Area. The two companies are well known for their construction of the iconic skyscraper KK100, formerly known as Kingkey 100 and Kingkey Finance Tower.

Covering 33 hectares, the Caiwuwei Area was listed among the urban renovation projects planned for Shenzhen in August 2013. The special economic zone intended that the future would be distinguished by prosperous business activities, diversified culture and quality livelihood.

In August 2018, the Luohu district government positioned the Caiwuwei Area as the financial, commercial and cultural center in its 13th Five-Year Plan, intending that it should be a landmark complex with world-class standards as part of its efforts to reinvigorate Luohu and turn it into the "Manhattan" of Shenzhen.
