The opening ceremony of the 2019 National Science and Technology Week was held at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in Beijing on Sunday. China's major science and technology since 2014 are on display during the week.
The exhibition area covers 11,500 square meters, including about 6,500 square meters indoors and 5,000 square meters outdoors. In 2014, Beijing was marked as the national scientific and technological innovation center, and the country's various achievements since then - in fields such as artificial intelligence, integrated circuit, aerospace, smart devices, new materials and other cutting-edge technologies - are put on display at the museum. Highlights of the exhibits include models of Long March 5, Chang'e 4, and the lunar rover.
In addition, Beijing has applied various technologies in this year's sci-tech week including VR, AR, MR, infographics, and cartoons, in a bid to help people better interact with the exhibits. For example, visitors could experience the ongoing Expo 2019 held in Beijing's suburban area by wearing VR glasses.
Paper tickets for the sci-tech week event can be accessed by showing ID cards at the south gate of the Military Museum, or booked online through the WeChat official account (bjkejizhou). The exhibition is open between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from May 19 to 26.
