Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province detained six suspects, including three from Myanmar, for cross-border drug trafficking and seized over 23.4 kg of methamphetamine, local authorities said Friday.

Police in Changning County under Baoshan City received a tip-off on May 14 that a group of Myanmar drug dealers planned to transport drugs via Lincang City to Kunming, capital of Yunnan, for sale. A task force was sent to Yun County under Lincang City to investigate the case.

Around 10:00 p.m. on the same day, police caught six suspects, including three from Myanmar, and seized an off-road vehicle and a minicar at a gas station in Yun County. A total of 42 packages of methamphetamine were seized from the backpack and handbag in the trunk of the minicar.

Further investigation is underway.

Yunnan is a major front in China's war on drugs, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for drug production and trafficking.
