Reforms to medical insurance services are being introduced to make it more convenient for people and to extend medical insurance services to more communities. The Luohu District Administrative Service Hall and the sub-district service halls of Huangbei, Dongmen and Liantang will start handling affairs related to local citizens’ medical insurance from June 30.

A total of 15 items related to the medical insurance will be handled at the desks of the service halls after the reform. For instance, people will be able to apply for reimbursement for outpatient services, hospital medical care expenses, maternity insurance and childbirth expenses for both outpatient services and hospitalization, and handle records of seeing a doctor in other places.

Residents can also directly handle certain services through the internet, smart phones or self-service terminals, such as binding and unbinding personal accounts with other family members; updating agency information on personal accounts; the adjustment of proportion of self-payment in personal accounts; and maintenance of passwords.

Businesses can also process three items related to the medical insurance affairs on the internet: applying for maternity allowance, and logging when employees see a doctor in other places.
