China's meteorological authority continued a yellow alert for rainstorms on Friday.

From Friday evening to Saturday evening, rainstorms or heavy rains are expected to hit parts of Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan and Guizhou provinces as well as Chongqing Municipality, said the National Meteorological Center.

Some regions will experience torrential rains, with precipitation up to 220 mm in parts of Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang and Guizhou.

The center advised local governments to keep alert to possible flooding, landslides and mudslides caused by heavy rain and recommended outdoor operations be halted in hazardous areas.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
