From July 1, Beijing will roll out electronic parking meters in five districts, offering more than 24,000 parking spaces marked by white lines along over 220 streets, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport announced on June 24.

All streets in Shijingshan district, Chaoyang district, Fengtai district, and Haidian district and some streets in Yanqing district will install electronic parking meters for roadside parking from July 1. There will be no manual toll collection for roadside parking in these areas after July 1.

Electronic parking spaces are recognizable with an orange plate that specifies parking rates.

Drivers can pay electronic parking tolls through a mobile app and other online services. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Merchants Bank also offer toll collection services in their outlets in Beijing.

In January, 13,800 electronic parking spaces were designated in three pilot districts in Beijing, including Xicheng district, Dongcheng district, and Tongzhou district, issuing 2.41 million electronic car parking service tickets.
