A ceremony marking initiation of a pilot project for establishment of a model port started at Wenjindu Port in Shenzhen on June 21.
This is joint effort by the Shenzhen port office, customs, immigration inspection and Shenzhen Port Administrative Service Center Co.
With concerted efforts of all relevant units, Wenjindu Port has markedly improved its infrastructural facilities and service level in recent years, and has accumulated some experience of reference value to other ports in Shenzhen.
The aim of the pilot project is to summarize these experiences and successful work methods of Wenjindu Port and popularize these practices in other ports in bid to enhance the overall port environment and facilitate customs clearance procedures.
The pilot is part of the work planned by Shenzhen to promote the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through improvement of its port services.
According to project organizers, Shenzhen will further improve its safety monitoring and control work, emergency command level, voluntary services, joint development and publicity work of its ports, and all relevant parties are encouraged to cooperate closely to ensure customs clearance safety, efficient traffic, natural disaster and fire prevention and control, customs clearance information disclosure and law popularization work.
Shenzhen will draft standards of infrastructure facilities, services and management according to Wenjindu Port’s practices, and the city will organize regular safety and management training sessions for the staff of other ports.
Wenjindu Port will further improve and standardize its work in all the aspects named. The plan is for the pilot project leading team to examine its performance and achievements in June 2020. And the Wenjindu Port’s experience and standards will then be presented to other ports of Shenzhen for implementation.
Shenzhen plans to take 40 measures to improve the services and efficiency of its ports so as to allow them to play a bigger role in the construction of the Greater Bay Area.
