A singing contest of Chinese songs for overseas Chinese is currently under way and the final is scheduled to begin later this month in Beijing.
The singing contest has been held eight times since 2011. This year, it has been renamed "Cultures of China, Water Cube Cup" and organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Information Office of the Beijing Municipal Government.
According to Liu Chunfeng, head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Beijing, a total of 50 competition zones have been set up in 31 countries and regions, including 12 countries along the Belt and Road such as the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The final and a big gala are scheduled to run from July 20 to August 9, when contestants will gather in Beijing for the events. Young contestants will also be invited to join in music summer camps to experience and learn about Chinese culture, the Beijing Winter Olympics and the city of Beijing.
The big gala will be held on Aug. 8 at the National Aquatics Center.
