On July 1, the 2019 Chinese language training program for officials from Beijing's sister cities kicked off at Capital Normal University. Jointly hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, this year's program welcomed 16 officials from 11 foreign countries.

Since the launch of the program in 2009, a total of 176 officials and teachers have received language training in China. The program itself has gradually become a brand activity between Beijing and its sister cities and played a prominent role in promoting people-to-people exchanges. According to the Foreign Affairs Office, the participating foreign officials have high expectations for the program and expressed their hopes to promote cooperation, broaden horizons, and accumulate experience for the development of their own cities in the future.

This year's program will last for 15 days, covering topics such as the Winter Olympics, Beijing Expo 2019, urban planning, intelligent traffic management, protection of historical and cultural heritage, and building international community. Through studying the Chinese language, experiencing Chinese traditional culture, and participating in field research activities, the program is designed to comprehensively demonstrate the capital city's ancient charm and contemporary spirit.
