Song Tao, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), presided over the opening ceremony, and extended a warm welcome to all participants.

Song hoped they could focus on the theme of the activity and engage in active and constructive discussions on global security in modern times.

Sergey Ordzhonikidze, vice president of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Douglas Bandow, special assistant to former U.S. president Ronald Reagan, and other speakers at the opening ceremony positively commented on China's contributions to maintaining global security.
