A joint reporting tour in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was launched Monday for journalists across the Taiwan Strait.

Around 40 journalists with 31 media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, the People's Daily, Taiwan-based China Times and United Daily News as well as Hong Kong-based news agencies will visit Nanning, Hechi, Fangchenggang and Qinzhou during the weeklong event.

The tour will bring them to Nanning CRRC Rail Transit Equipment Co., Ltd., Bama Yao Autonomous County, the border city of Dongxing and the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park.

In a speech, Zhou Hongbo, mayor of Nanning, said the reporting tour will enhance understanding across the Strait and promote exchanges between Nanning and Taiwan.

With the event, the journalists are also expected to learn more about Guangxi's role in the Belt and Road construction as well as its achievements in social and economic development, according to the All-China Journalists Association, a co-organizer of the event.
