The Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) on Monday held a symposium here to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The symposium was also in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the establishment of the system of multiparty cooperation.

Looking back on the 70 years of the TDSL as a party taking part in the CPPCC, Su Hui, vice chairperson of the CPPCC National Committee and chairperson of the TDSL Central Committee, called on the league to promote the fine tradition of multiparty cooperation and build itself into a politically solid socialist political party with Chinese characteristics.

Su also asked the league to give full play to its characteristics and advantages to enhance exchanges between and integration of both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and unite compatriots across the Strait to realize the Chinese Dream.

Over 100 officials and members of the TDSL attended the symposium.

Founded in 1947, the league is one of the eight non-Communist political parties in the Chinese mainland. It consists of Taiwanese living in the mainland.
