During the extended National Day Holiday from Oct. 2 to 8, the 2019 Chinese Opera Culture Week was held, attracting around 190,000 visitors to the Beijing Garden Expo Park to appreciate the beauty of traditional arts.

Over 2,300 performers from 65 professional organizations put on more than 370 traditional opera shows during the holiday. A total number of 23 opera genres were presented, offering a total immersive experience.

The Opera Culture Week allows opera masters to closely interact with the audience in a natural environment instead of a traditional opera hall.

The China National Peking Opera Company and the Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing put on a series of classic Peking opera performances.

"Teahouse," a Beijing local opera, was so good that it felt like the audience was actually in the teahouse from Lao She's novel. Jinzhong Park hosted a large audience with performances from the "No.1 Opera Organization."

A lot of opera lovers and communities came as part of various events such as flash mobs and parades; visitors also experienced opera performing for themselves by painting facial makeups and learning opera dance moves; the Chinese Opera Arts and Cultural Creativity Expo, academic events, workshops, the 70th anniversary of Town of Pears and opera movies rounded out the experience.

The 2019 Chinese Opera Culture Week was professional and audience-oriented, with operas, exhibitions, movies and events all available.
