The 6th World Internet Conference (WIC), to be held on Oct 20 to 22 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, is just around the corner. Guests attending this major tech event include top executives from internet giants, tech entrepreneurs, scholars, and government officials from China and abroad.

There are multiple highlights that worth looking out for, according to Zhu Chonglie, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhejiang Provincial Committee.

First, the new intelligent venue will offer visitors a refreshing experience. This year, the Light of Internet Expo will be held in the new exhibition hall, the Light of Internet Expo Center.

The center is done up mainly in black and white and its roof is adorned with 850,000 gray-blue tiles, echoing the traditional architectural style of the water town of Wuzhen. Covering some 20,000 square meters, the Expo Center doesn't have a single vertical pillar inside, which maximizes the available space and allows over 600 internet companies to better display their cutting-edge technologies.

The application of various smart technologies within the center such as facial recognition and a digital management system also makes it an intelligent Expo venue.

Second, the new "1+3" structure will serve to enrich the content of the overall conference. In previous sessions, the WIC comprised three parts in a "1+2" structure - it had forums, the Light of Internet Expo and the event showcasing world-leading scientific and technological achievements. This year, the "Straight to Wuzhen" Global Internet Competition has been added to showcase more internet innovation projects.

According to Zhu, the Light of Internet Expo will run from Oct. 18 to Oct. 22, two days longer than in previous years, during which numerous cutting-edge technologies and products will be on display. Industry professionals as well as members of the public can also sign up to visit.

Third, smart products and technologies will be used during the WIC, allowing participants to enjoy and experience first-hand the benefits of cutting-edge developments in internet-related innovations.

A 5G commercial network will cover the whole area of Wuzhen while 5G autonomous shuttle buses, millimeter wave scanners and other devices will be deployed at the conference.

The sixth World Internet Conference will be a stunning tech event with "international standards and Chinese characteristics", according to Zhu Chonglie.
