The annual Zhongguancun Forum will open at the exhibition center of Zhongguancun Science Park, running from Oct. 16 to 18. During the event, Beijing will announce 30 measures in building the city's science and technology innovation center.

This year's forum will include an opening ceremony, 18 parallel forums, an exhibition for over 170 international state-of-the-art technological achievements, and a launching ceremony for major technological products, according to Zhai Lixin, director of Zhongguancun administrative committee.

The forum will also gather experts of scientific and technological innovations to exchange ideas, and act as a platform for Beijing’s authorities to announce new policies and measures for the sector.

It has invited experts in various fields, including representatives from the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the European Patent Office. Attendees will also be headlined by winners of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, winners of the Fields Medal, and other top scientists in the world. Other participants include investors, entrepreneurs, and guests from the public.

The exhibition for international frontier scientific and technological achievements is expected to be a highlight of the forum. Themed "Frontier Technology and Future Industries," the exhibition this year will embrace nearly 170 achievements presented by 116 domestic and foreign organizations, including the Tsinghua University, Peking University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Microsoft, Intel, and Siemens. The achievements cover a wide range of areas including AI, IT, life science, bio-tech, smart manufacturing, high-end equipment, new materials, and new energy. Also, over 100 new products from 70-odd enterprises in these fields will make their debut during the exhibition.

In addition, the forum will witness the announcement of 30 new measures in developing the Beijing science and technology innovation center, 14 policies on financing intellectual properties, major cooperation projects between China and Japan, a cooperative innovation project between Beijing and Huawei, and major platform projects co-founded by universities and enterprises.
