Beijing Daxing International Airport on Sunday officially launched routes connecting to international cities and Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and saw nine outbound flights and six inbound flights on the first day.

As flight CA757 to Thailand took off at 7:50 a.m., its passengers became the first travelers cleared by the customs at the new airport. At 9:13 a.m., flight BA039 from the U.K. became the first international flight landing at Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Beijing Customs has taken a number of measures to optimize the passenger entry and exit process. For passengers leaving the country, customs officers will not carry out inspection on their carry-on luggage before they reach the health and quarantine inspection desk and the declaration desk. That means that, after passing security check, passengers can go directly to the border checkpoint. "We have integrated our equipment and upgraded the security inspection system, and by minimizing the sense of regulation, we try to enhance the efficiency while maintaining all the indispensable functions," said Zhang Bo, a customs officer at the airport.

By conducting customs inspection in advance, the airport allows passengers to have their luggage checked before claiming, so they can enjoy a faster and more convenient experience from landing at to leaving the airport.
