Ground construction has started for the Xiongan section of Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway after the underground structure was completed recently. The 472,000-square-meter project will be put into use by the end of next year, according to China Railway.

As the terminal station of the intercity railway, Xiongan also connects the Tianjin-Xiongan Intercity Railway, facilitating transit in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. From Xiongan, it will take half an hour to travel to Beijing and Tianjin, and one hour to go to Shijiazhuang.

Located at the northeast part of Xiongxian, the transport hub boasts 11 platforms and 19 parallel tracks. The main building of the station has five floors with elevated waiting halls, platforms, and commercial areas, providing comprehensive service to the passengers.

The Xiongan section makes seamless transfers to rail transports, ground transports, and taxi, becoming the green transport hinge of Xiongan, according to railway officials.

The application of the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, AI, and other advanced technologies make the transport hub an innovative landmark in China's railway.

The Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway made its debut with the Daxing section going into operations on Sept. 26.
