One person has been diagnosed with bubonic plague on Saturday and is receiving treatment at a hospital in the county of Huade in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the regional health commission said on Sunday.

Investigation showed that the patient, who is from Xilingol League of the region, hunted and ate a hare on Nov. 5.

Twenty-eight people in close contact with the patient were put under medical quarantine. No one has shown symptoms such as fever so far, the commission said.

Two patients from Xilingol League were diagnosed with pneumonic plague in Beijing on Tuesday. No epidemiological association was found between the two cases, according to authorities.
